Attorney Shannon Toon is a native of Union City, Tennessee and graduated from Union City High School. He received an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. While attending college, Mr. Toon was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and Chi Epsilon National Civil Engineering Honor Society. He received his Doctorate of Juris Prudence from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis where he was a member of the Student Bar Association.
Mr. Toon is a member of the Memphis Bar Association; Tennessee Bar Association; Tennessee Association for Justice; American Bar Association; and American Association for Justice. As a member of the Memphis Bar Association, he has served on the Executive Committee; as President and Vice President of the Young Lawyers Division; and on the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers Division as Public Service Committee Chair, Social Committee Chair and Sport Committee Chair. Super Lawyers Magazine has recognized Mr. Toon as a Rising Star.
In addition to his involvement in the aforementioned legal organizations, Mr. Toon is an active volunteer in the community with many organizations including but not limited to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Memphis and Youth Leadership of Memphis. He also routinely volunteers his services to the Courthouse Advice and Counsel Clinic sponsored by Memphis Area Legal Services, which provides free legal advice and services to individuals representing themselves.
Prior to founding Taylor & Toon, PLLC with Christopher L. Taylor, Mr. Toon began his legal career with the state-wide insurance defense firm of Spicer, Flynn, & Rudstrom in their Memphis office. He subsequently left the practice of insurance defense and joined the personal injury firm of Hill-Boren, P. C.
Mr. Toon has successfully represented numerous individuals who have been injured due to no fault of their own throughout the state of Tennessee. His prior experience working as an insurance defense attorney along with his years of experience representing injured individuals gives him a unique perspective, which benefits him in his pursuit of justice for his clients.
He is admitted to practice in all Tennessee state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
Shannon resides in Memphis, Tennessee. In his spare time, he enjoys being outside and playing golf. He also enjoys watching pretty much any sport and is an avid fan of Memphis Grizzlies, St. Louis Cardinals, Kentucky Wildcats and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
